The Colleges

The Colleges’ main campuses are geographically dispersed--Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, Cerro Coso Community College in Ridgecrest, and Porterville College in Porterville.

Each college awards two-year degrees (AA, AS), transfer degrees (AA-T, AS-T), and job skills certificates. Classes are offered during 16-week semesters, with opportunities for non-traditional scheduling options, such as evening, weekend, and online classes, as well as short-term vocational programs. Non-credit community education courses provide vocational training, professional development, and recreational enjoyment to members of the community

Established in 1913, Bakersfield College is one of the nation’s oldest continually operating community colleges. The college currently serves 31,015 students annually on the main campus in northeast Bakersfield as well as at the Delano Campus 35 miles north of Bakersfield, the Weill Institute in downtown Bakersfield, and BC SouthWest in southwest Bakersfield. Classes are also scheduled at several additional locations throughout the service area. Additionally, BC is proud to offer courses through the Levan Institute, which presents learning experiences available primarily to those 55 and over.

BC students are diverse and represent the communities served. The College holds designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution.

Cerro Coso Community College, with a current enrollment of 5,963 students, is located in the Eastern Sierra region of southern California. The main campus, Indian Wells Valley (IWV) is in Ridgecrest, the largest community in the service area. The College also offers programs and services at a number of other locations throughout the large geographic service area including student housing.

CCCC is proud to offer the Incarcerated Student Education Program (ISEP) at two locations. This program has served more than 2,000 students since its beginning in 2015 and is a unique approach to promoting rehabilitation and safer communities. ISEP offers seven transferable degree pathways. An early leader in distance education, CCCC has been offering online classes since 1998, including 19 Associate Degrees currently in that medium.

Porterville College is the northernmost college in the district and is located in Porterville, California. For more than 90 years, Porterville College has provided post-secondary educational opportunities, currently to 5,052 students, from Porterville and surrounding communities.

Similar to other KCCD colleges, PC pursues strong working relationships with its community and, through its Early College program, with K-12 educational partners. Porterville College is fortunate to have one of the finer art galleries to be found on a community college campus. A major study regarding facility improvements is underway to determine the best way to address current and future needs with its 61-acre landlocked campus.
