Renegade Motorsports Team Shines in Recent Northern California Competition

Last month, the Renegade Motorsports team traveled to Sonoma Raceway in Northern California for three days of racing with seventy-five semi-professional teams in the Lucky Dog Racing League.
The first day was dedicated to practice runs, where the three student drivers and their instructor logged multiple hours on a track they had never used before. During this time, the students executed the correct driving line, braking and acceleration points, navigating traffic, and more. The team also practiced their Pit Stop procedure, which included refueling the car, changing drivers, and safety checks on the vehicles. At the end of the first day, the team performed a maintenance schedule to prepare the car for the next day’s race.
On the second day, the team competed in a 7-hour Endurance Race in which each student driver completed two-hour stints around a challenging 2.5-mile road course. The crew performed pit stops efficiently, helping the team to finish in 38th place out of seventy-five teams and 16th in their class of thirty-five. More importantly, the team’s construction and preparation of the car allowed the drivers to complete every lap of the race with no mechanical issues. Additionally, the drivers executed their training flawlessly and had no issues navigating the challenging track or other drivers.
After routine maintenance and repairs, the team returned to compete in a second 7-hour Endurance Race on the third day of the competition. The team and pit crew ran into some mechanical issues during the race, and they finished in 46th place overall and 22nd in their class.
