Cybersecurity Specialist Alonzo Perry Wraps Up CTE Lecture Series for Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Cerro Coso Community College’s Career Technical Education (CTE) Department is excited to announce a special guest lecture series in honor of Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
Closing out the series is Alonzo Perry, a Principal Security Engineer with over two decades of experience in the Information Technology and Cybersecurity industries.
Alonzo's impressive career spans roles in Network Center Operations, System Administration, Software Development, DevOps, Compliance, and Cybersecurity.
In addition to his civilian roles, he served as a USAF/ANG Airman working on avionics systems (Comm/NAV) for C-130s in various global locations.
Alonzo will speak on current trends in cybersecurity, including the impact of recent incidents, artificial intelligence, and career paths in the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape. He will also answer audience questions, providing a unique opportunity to learn directly from an industry leader.
“Cybersecurity Awareness Month highlights the increasing importance of online safety in our communities and homes. Cybercrime can cause financial loss, damage to reputation, and negative impacts to the health and peace of mind of our loved ones and ourselves. Fortunately, cybersecurity professionals like Alonzo Perry are hard at work to help "Secure our World", which is the running theme of Cybersecurity Awareness Month,” stated Tim Randolph, Associate Professor, Information Technology and Cybersecurity.
Nicole Griffin, Dean of Career Technical Education, emphasizes, "Providing guest speakers to share their wealth of information helps our students be inspired and broadens their career pathways. It also is a great resource for those in the community who are interested in learning more about cybersecurity and how to protect themselves."
The presentation will take place on October 25th from 9:00am-10:30am at the Cerro Coso Community College Ridgecrest Campus.
This event is free and open to all students and the public.
