BC Math Department Hosts Pi Day Celebration
The Math department at Bakersfield College hosted an exciting celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi) on Pi Day, March 14th. The event featured a day of fun-filled activities, delicious treats, and a unique opportunity to engage with faculty and administration.
Pi Day festivities featured various activity booths that demonstrated the wonders of mathematics in an entertaining and interactive manner. Other booths at the event provided information on academic programs and student services, and another booth offered pizza and pie for attendees to enjoy. One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the opportunity for students to watch several faculty members take a pie to the face.
Associate Dean of Mathematics, Anna Melby, said, “We are thrilled to bring the BC campus together for this fun celebration of Pi Day. This event is a testament to our incredible math faculty who are committed to fostering a love of learning and showcasing the relevance of math in our everyday lives. I want to give special recognition to math faculty, Claire Lahorgue, for orchestrating and organizing this year's celebration.”
