Performing Arts Department Hosts 2024 Spring Faculty Showcase
The Performing Arts department recently held their 2024 Spring Faculty Showcase, an evening of performances by BC's incredibly talented Music and Theatre faculty. The beloved event, returning for the first time since the COVID shutdown, featured 11 members of the Performing Arts faculty and staff showing off their amazing abilities beyond the classroom. A few highlights from the free performance included: world-renowned flautist Tracy Harris performing a mind-bending combination of flute playing and singing; BSO principal pianist John Calanchini and internationally-trained vocalist Katie Scaffidi Knudson incorporating Sicilian culture to the evening; History of Rock & Roll professor Rene Gutierrez leading a sing-a-long rendition of Elton John's "Rocket Man;" and Jazz Studies faculty members Paul Cierley, Kris Tiner, and Tony Rinaldi showing off their improvisational expertise with Johnny Green & Edward Heyman's "Out of Nowhere."
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our wonderful Performing Arts faculty and staff! We can't wait to welcome you to the Edward Simonsen Performing Arts Center for another of our performances soon.
