Porterville College Art Gallery is thrilled to announce the opening of Conscious Impressions, an exhibition of oil paintings by Central Valley artist Adam Longatti. The exhibit, featuring a captivating collection of plein air and large-scale studio works, will run from February 5 - 26, 2024. The public is invited to join the opening reception on February 7 at 5 pm, celebrating Longatti’s profound connection with the Central Valley landscape.

Adam Longatti’s Conscious Impressions is a testament to his deep-rooted relationship with the Central Valley of California. Having spent most of his life in this region, Longatti’s artwork reflects a personal journey of identity shaped by the surrounding landscape and the natural beauty of this area. “These paintings are the product of an experience,” says Longatti, emphasizing the spontaneous nature of his plein air technique and the historical narrative embedded within the landscape. “The landscape reveals its historical record in its mere present existence. It’s the challenge of revealing this story that sparks my interest.”

Longatti, a distinguished artist with an extensive exhibition record, holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Sierra Nevada University and an MA in Painting from California State University, Fresno. His career is adorned with solo exhibitions, including notable shows at A Sense of Place Gallery, Fresno and the 1821 Gallery, Fresno. His involvement in group exhibitions and artist residencies highlights his significant contributions to the art community, and his work as a public muralist further demonstrates his commitment to enriching the cultural landscape of the Central Valley.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Longatti has been a dedicated art educator, sharing his knowledge and passion with students at Fresno State, Clovis Community College, and Reedley College.

Conscious Impressions offers a vivid and intimate exploration of the Central Valley, going beyond mere perception to weave a story rich in history and personal narrative. The artist showcases a dynamic interplay of color, texture, and space, inviting visitors to experience the landscape's character through his distinctive brushwork.

Gallery visitors can explore Conscious Impressions during gallery hours, Monday through Thursday from 12 to 2 pm and 4 to 6 pm. As parking is restricted, attendees are advised to contact the front desk upon arrival for a complimentary temporary parking permit.
