Puente Students Visit Sacramento

PC Puente Students pose at the Puente Conference in Sacramento

The Puentistas enjoyed a wonderful trip to Sacramento in October. Our adventure started out at Cal State Sacramento. Our tour guides were several fraternity and sorority sisters and brothers. These young people gave us a thorough tour and inspirited the students to attend their university. The State Capitol was next on our agenda, where we were given a tour, along with a special visit to the Assembly Floor, thanks to the office of Assemblyman Vince Fong. This was followed by a quick trip to Old Town Sacramento, and then we had some delicious pizza at Woodstock’s Pizza.

We were up bright and early for the Puente Transfer Motivational Conference at UC Davis. The guest speaker for the conference was Dr. Chris Emdin, USC Director of Youth Engagement and Community Partnerships at the USC Race and Equity Center. Students and staff then went off to various workshops that were provided by Puente.
