Renegade Nexus Helps Provide Holiday Meals with Turkey Opportunity Drawing
On Tuesday, November 21st, the Renegade Nexus – BC’s Basic Needs Center, hosted our last Farmer’s Market of the year as well as our Turkey Opportunity Drawing. Our Farmer’s Market, held in collaboration with the Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK), offered wonderful items including potatoes, apples, oranges, spinach, chicken, and more. We had over 500 attendees serving over 2100 people in our community when accounting for household size.
In addition to the market, we had our Turkey Opportunity Drawing which provided a frozen turkey to students for the upcoming holidays. This year we had over 400 entries and were able to provide over 100 turkeys to students and their families. Students shared that they were thankful to receive a turkey to help make their holiday meal possible.
Our Farmer’s Market and Turkey Opportunity Drawing help to fulfill a need for healthy and nutritious food in our community. With the high cost of food today, we are able to eliminate the challenges of purchasing nutritious food to positively influence the health, spirit, and educational success of those in our community. Thank you to our donors, volunteers, staff, and supporters who make our events possible.
