BC Apprenticeship Hosts an Employer Meet-and-Greet
Bakersfield College partnered with OpenClassrooms and Calbright College to host an employer meet-and-greet. The event recruited employers from multiple industry sectors throughout the state of California. All employers expressed interest in providing paid work experience for apprentices to complete hands-on job training. Employers learned about the benefits available to them, including financial assistance for supplies, offsetting apprentices’ wages, and building a skilled talent acquisition pipeline to meet their organization’s needs. Employers have the opportunity of training apprentices as well as upskilling existing staff.
The apprenticeship programs are offered at no cost to students with programs. They
also yield college units to count towards degree attainment if a student would like
to continue furthering their education beyond their apprenticeship program. The event
concluded with plans to host an event at Bakersfield College on November 15, 2023,
during National Apprenticeship Week. The upcoming event will focus on connecting prospective
apprentices directly with employers for in-person interviews and employment offers
on-the-spot. We look forward to connecting with new employers and continuing to expand
certified, paid workforce training opportunities for students.
