Cerro Coso Community College Breaking Ground On Sports Complex Renovations
Cerro Coso Community College is thrilled to announce the official start of construction on our Outdoor Sports Complex Renovation. The college is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, June 14th at 10:30 am.
The project will greatly enhance the spectator experience for sports fans across Ridgecrest. We are building new grandstands, clubhouses, and press boxes at both our baseball and softball diamonds. Our new field house will include concessions and new restroom facilities. These new facilities will make Cerro Coso the premier spot for local sports.
Our players are also receiving major benefits in this renovation with the addition of a new player development room and locker rooms. The renovation is scheduled to be completed in June of 2025.
“I am so excited to be breaking ground on this renovation project. These facility upgrades represent a key part of our plan to expand our services to every single person in our community. I can’t wait to invite everyone up to see the finished product and watch some games together!” said Dr. Sean Hancock, President of Cerro Coso Community College.
The groundbreaking ceremony will include representatives from Cerro Coso Community College, The Kern Community College District, as well as S.C. Anderson, the contractor who has been awarded the work.

This $18 Million renovation project is funded by Measure J, a Kern Community College District Bond Measure approved by voters in 2016. Measure J provided the district with critical funding needed to expand and enhance our ability to serve our communities.
Money from the measure has previously been used to fund upgrades at the Cerro Coso Lecture Hall and renovate the Cerro Coso gymnasium. Future use of the funds includes repairing and resurfacing parking lots and College Heights Boulevard.
